What’s On Netflix Now: September

September is here and y’all know what that means: football and flannel and pumpkin spice lattes for everyone! Ha! Just kidding, we’re in Texas, you silly fools. The only thing that’s actually true for September around here is football. I guess you can have a pumpkin spice latte, but I’d skip flannel because it’s still hot as balls around here. So grab your iced PSL, crank that air conditioning to “high” and get into potato mode for what’s on Netflix this September.

Movies Coming to Netflix

September 1st: ‘American Psycho’

Netflix
American Psycho

A lighthearted psychological horror that takes place in the late 80’s. You know; typical stuff. Patrick Bateman is a wealthy New York investment banker who loves the finer things in life. And also – murder. It’s hilarious if really dark comedy is your thing. I promise I’m not crazy.

September 1st: ‘The Last Exorcism’

What can I tell you? Creepy season has begun. Reverend Cotton Marcus lets Iris Reisen and Daniel Moskowitz make a documentary about his life as a preacher. He lets them know that he has questioned his faith since his wife had trouble delivering his son. He also confides that he believes that exorcisms are fake, but it makes the believers feel better since they do believe in the power of exorcism. Cotton is asked by a farmer to perform an exorcism on his daughter and sees this as a chance to prove to the documentarians the fraud of this ritual.

NOT The Last Exorcism, but apparently this reaction is common

Hilarity ensues. KIDDING! Watch the movie.

September 1st: ‘Superbad’

If you need to take a break from the dark side, watch Superbad and ignore all problematic plot points in this movie. Extremely codependent and nerdy friends Seth and Evan are getting ready to graduate high school (of course) and somehow get invited to the cool kids’ party. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to  deem themselves worthy of the invite, they scheme to supply enough alcohol to make them popular and get them laid. (Did I mention you need to ignore all the problematic plot points?) Cue the hilarious shenanigans.

September 1st: ‘Eerie’

Eerie on Netflix
*cue suspenseful music*

Back to creepy. Now this is one I am a bit excited about. Eerie is a Tagalog movie set in an old Catholic girls school. It’s supposed to have all the horror movie tropes I fall for and appreciate.  There’s a mysterious suicide, an evil looking nun, a shocking murder and a curious and stupid, but well intentioned person. Oh and it’s got subtitles so it’s classy as f*ck. I can’t wait to watch this, to be honest.

Shows Coming to Netflix

September 1st: ‘The Walking Dead’: Season 9

Long-running post apocalyptic show The Walking Dead has its latest season ready to binge.  I haven’t kept up with this show in a minute, so I can’t tell you who in the group is still alive or not. I still have beef with the writers about Glen’s death.

September 15th: ‘Surviving R. Kelly: Season 1’

I have been waiting and waiting for Netflix to bless me with this nightmare. I think the title says it all.

September 24th: ‘AHS: Apocalypse’

This is the 8th chapter of American Horror Story. It’s actually been called one of the better seasons of this show in recent years. Count me in! In the not too distant future, the world is in a nuclear winter. Rich girl Coco and some friends manage to get out of destroyed L.A. There’s also a secret group who hand picks some people to save. Apocalyptic sh*t commences.

There you go: a list of my faves of what’s on Netflix for this month. I love creeper season! Happy bingeing!
